Bangor Catchment Area Census Results 2021:

People over 3 years old who can speak Welsh: 44.1% (Increase of 2.1% since 2011)

The 2021 Census was undertaken during lockdown, therefore it seems that there were less students in Bangor at the time, therefore there was a reduction of 1,200 in the population of Bangor city, but as a result of a further reduction of 330 in the number of Welsh speakers, the percentage that can speak Welsh in the city has remained quite similar on *37.2% (*Bangor city itself).

There was an increase in the number of those who can speak Welsh in Y Felinheli, from 64.3% in 2011 to 68.3% in 2021.
